The FCC has said that "broadband has greater potential to transform education than any other technological innovation in our lifetime". Yet, in this unprecedented budget-tightening economy, many schools cannot afford the latest technology advancements. That's why Mobile Beacon developed two targeted grant programs to help educators harness the power of broadband to meet targeted needs.
Extend Learning Beyond Classroom Walls:
Laptop & Modem Donation Grant
Who It Helps:
Disadvantaged or at-risk students
What It Offers:
A donation of up to 25 laptops and 4G modems. Plus, unlimited use of Mobile Beacon's 4G high-speed internet service at no charge for 12 months. After the free internet service period, though there is no obligation, schools may apply for ongoing service at the availalbe heavily discounted rate (e.g $10/month paid annually in advance).
How It Benefits:
Using this grant, schools can engage this critical student population by providing access to educational content and the ability to "check out" equipment to those without internet access at home.
Provide A Safer Learning Environment:
Broadband Security System Grant
Who It Helps:
Schools, students, and staff
What It Offers:
A donation of up to four professional-grade security cameras configured to run over Mobile Beacon's 4G service. The system includes a preconfigured server with all necessary software and 19" server rack. It also features a remote live camera server so authorized administrators can access the system and view feeds remotely.
How It Benefits:
Schools can monitor key doorways, corridors, and other campus areas to help deter unauthorized access and foster a safe learning environment for students, teachers, and staff.
