Mobile Beacon is Now Accepting Applications for Connect for Success Grants

(Johnston, Rhode Island) March 9, 2017 – Mobile Beacon is now accepting applications for its Connect for Success grants. The grants provide up to 25 laptops and 25 4G LTE mobile hotspots with free, mobile, and unlimited 4G LTE internet access for one year, which is valued at $20,000. All eligible schools, colleges and universities are encouraged to apply. The deadline for applications is March 27th, 2017.

Connect for Success allows schools to provide students without internet access at home with the tools, connectivity, and hardware they need to complete homework assignments, access educational resources at home, and keep up with their peers.

“Millions of people still do not have home internet access, but for students, the consequences can be particularly devastating, said Katherine Messier, Executive Director of Mobile Beacon. Mobile Beacon is proud to provide the tools necessary for educators to address the homework gap in their communities across the country.”

Students in over 5 million households do not have internet access at home. The resulting homework gap means students are often left behind as the demand for digital literacy grows in the work force. The homework gap will affect our shared economic future.

In 2016 four organizations were awarded Mobile Beacon’s Connect for Success grants. The grants provided 76 laptops, 76 4G LTE mobile hotspots, and free, mobile, unlimited 4G LTE internet access for one year to ProvPlan in Providence, RI, Young Disciples Christian Academy in Tempe, ZA, Husky Prep Academy in Davenport, FL, and Kids World Academy in Taylorsville, UT.

Awarded four times a year, Mobile Beacon’s Connect for Success grants helps schools bridge the gap and provide the tools necessary for out-of-school internet connectivity for those without. Applications are accepted year-round. For more information including eligibility requirements please visit our website at: https://www.mobilebeacon.org/connect-for-success.
