New offerings include donated SIM cards, Chromebooks, and tablets to help schools restore hotspot lending and support student connectivity
LINCOLN, R.I. – May 01, 2026 – Digital Wish, in partnership with Mobile Beacon, is expanding affordable connectivity options for schools with the addition of donated 5G SIM cards, Chromebooks, and tablets. The expanded offering is designed to help schools strengthen classroom-to-home connectivity, restore hotspot lending programs that may have been disrupted, and support student access to off-campus learning resources. “Digital Wish is helping schools put technology to work where it matters most – in the hands of students,” said Katherine Primeau, Executive Director of Mobile Beacon. “Together, we’re making it easier for schools to restore hotspot lending, expand device access, and support the digital inclusion that students need to succeed inside and outside the classroom.” As schools continue to face challenges in maintaining reliable broadband access for students, the need for flexible, low-cost technology solutions remains urgent. Recent reporting has highlighted the impact of the loss of hotspot access on schools and libraries, including disruptions to lending programs and the loss of federal support for hotspot funding. This new collaboration gives schools a practical way to put existing hardware back into service and extend connectivity where it is needed most. “We’re thrilled to help schools by donating SIM cards and offering Mobile Beacon’s unlimited 5G internet service for a reasonable $10 per month. Schools that have experienced disruptions to their hotspot lending pool now have the chance to restore their hotspots. This will facilitate students’ access to off-campus resources and CIPA-compliant internet access for homework,” said Gordon Woodrow, Director, Digital Wish. In addition to SIM cards that can reactivate older hotspots and other compatible devices, the expanded product line includes Chromebooks and tablets to help schools meet immediate device and access needs. Together, these tools support more affordable, flexible connectivity strategies for schools working to close digital access gaps and maintain continuity of learning.Chris Watson Head of Marketing and Communications Mobile Beacon [email protected] +1 401-714-7345
